Niagara North alum Matteo Costantini is nominated for the National Rookie of the Year for the Canadian Junior Hockey League.

A member of the 2002 Niagara North Stars AAA team, Matteo was selected to the Hamilton Bulldogs in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection.  Following his Niagara North days, Matteo spent the past two years with the Buffalo Jr Sabres organization on the U16 team, then this year on the Jr Sabres OJHL team.  Matteo finished the regular season in the top 10 in OJHL scoring, and was leading OJHL playoff scoring when the season was cancelled.

Best of luck in the final balloting Matteo!

Niagara North added another 5 players to the annual list of OHL draft picks.  Tai York was first off the board selected to the Barrie Colts.  Ethan Whitcomb went next to the Guelph Storm, followed by Conner Thomson-Dick to Erie Otters.  Derek Smyth was then selected to the Ottawa 67s and last but not least Nathan Duplessis was selected to the Barrie Colts to wrap it up for the Minor Midget Stars.

We are thrilled for all five young men selected this year and we look forward to watching them progress in the next steps of their hockey path!
