Niagara North alum Riley McCourt (2000 born) became the Flint Firebirds all-time point leader by a defenceman on Saturday.

Riley was a mainstay for the Niagara North 2000 team for many years and went on to play at Ridley College following his minor midget year, then onto the St Catharines JrB Falcons, and eventually found his way to Flint where Riley has had great success.  Riley was a 3rd round pick of the Hamilton Bulldogs of the OHL coming out of minor midget. Riley also attended the Boston Bruins Rookie Camp this past September.

Congratulations to Riley on his record in Flint and much success for you in the future!

The Niagara North Midgets made it two tournament wins in a row by taking the Peterborough Steve Richey Classic with a 5-2 win over SCTA rival Halton.  The Midgets had 6 wins and 1 tie on their undefeated run to the title.

This win caps off a solid tournament schedule for the Midgets with a semi final appearance in the Titans Earlybird, a title win in Barrie and then this weekends title in Peterborough.

Now the boys focus on locking down a top 2 spot for the first round of the SCTA League playdowns.  Lots of work to be done as the team works for an OMHA berth.

Good luck the rest of the way!
