2025-2026 Tryout Information
As many of you know, the OHF recently changed the guidelines regarding player movement across all levels of hockey in Ontario.  This will have marked impacts on the tryout process for organizations across Ontario.  As parents, coaches and an organization, we understand the stress and anxiety that comes with tryouts. We also know that having a clear picture of the process helps for all to be better prepared and feel less stress.

Tryout process information for parents:
U10 - U13 tryouts begin on Saturday, April 19
U14 - U18 tryouts begin on Monday, April 21
Once the specific dates/times for all tryouts are confirmed, they will be posted on the tryout tab of our website.

PRIOR TO TRYOUTS

  • All players MUST be registered for tryouts using the Hockey Canada/Spordle links that are posted on our website.  There will be no walk-up registrations taken at the rink on tryout day.  Registration must be paid by credit card.
  • Permission to Skate forms are NO LONGER REQUIRED
  • Please ensure that your email information in your Spordle profile is accurate. Coaches will be using the primary email to send any tryout information, as well as offers of commitment, where appropriate, so this being accurate is important.
  • If you have any trouble accessing your player's Spordle account/profile, please DO NOT create a new profile for them...this only complicates things on the Hockey Canada/OMHA end, and delays the process of getting them registered.
  • As per the OHF guidelines, tryout registration links cannot open prior to April 2.  So the links will not work prior to that date.  Once the links are active, please register as soon as possible, IN ADVANCE of the first day of tryouts. Registering in advance ensures that coaches can make the proper plans for the session, and ensures that there will be no issues that would prevent a player from participating in tryouts.

DURING TRYOUTS

  • All players must report to the Registration Desk prior to going to the dressing room to get ready.
  • The coach/registrar will confirm that the player has registered in Spordle, prior to giving them their numbered tryout jersey.  No players will be given a tryout jersey without being registered for tryouts.

AFTER EACH TRYOUT

  • All players will receive communication directly from their coach, either in person, by email or by letter, at the conclusion of each tryout date to determine whether they are:
    • being offered a spot on the team
    • continuing with the tryout process
    • being released from the Niagara North tryout process
  • Any/all appropriate next steps will be outlined in that communication.

If you have any questions about the player movement policies, please see the OHF Player Movement site https://www.ohf.on.ca/player-movement/ and specifically the Frequently Asked Questions.
