Niagara North Tryout Information
Submitted By Kathy Ditto on Tue 08 10, 21
Niagara North is thrilled that hockey is back.  We want to welcome everyone for tryouts for the 2021-2022 season.

A few things have changed since our last tryout so it is necessary to summarize some updates for you.   To start please ensure you select correct age group when registering. As you know the names we used in the past to distinguish age groups have been updated to U9, U10 etc.

This year Hockey Canada has mandated that the U9, U10 and U11 age groups run "Development Skates" before the tryout period.  Therefore, there will be four skates scheduled the second week of September for these three age groups.  The tryout period for these three age groups then begins the third week of September.

The OMHA has given the option for other age groups to run "Development Skates" as well. That being said, both our U13 and U18 teams have made the decision to run two developmental skates that will take place the second week of September. Tryouts then begin for U12 to U18 on September 10th.

As you may know the OMHA passed a motion at their AGM that allows players to move within the OMHA from U14 to U16U18 continues as per usual as per OHF Regulations.  Niagara North will accept try out registration from players from out of our zone.  However, any player from out of the Niagara North Zone wishing to try out must register on time and attend the first ice time.  Any player looking to register after the first try out has been scheduled must apply through the Niagara North website using the "Request a Tryout" portal.  Requests for tryouts are at the discretion of the Niagara North Executive.  Once a request is submitted you will receive a response within 24 hours.

Players in age groups U9 to U13 from out of zone who may also request a tryout through the "Request a Tryout" portal, but only if they are already in possession of all the necessary waivers required releasing them from their home organization.  All requests are at the discretion of the Niagara North Executive.
