NN Alum Dustyn McFaul Selected by Boston Bruins
Dustyn McFaul (2000) NN graduate defenceman was selected in the 6th Round, 181st overall by the Boston Bruins at the NHL Draft on Saturday.  Dustyn was selected in the 13th Round of the OHL Draft two years ago, spent his first year with Niagara North Midget, then on to the OJHL Pickering Panthers this past season. Dustyn is also a Clarkson University commit.

"Interesting because he was a late bloomer," said Bruins assistant GM Scott Bradley said of the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Waterdown, Ontario, native. "We think he'll end up playing USHL or maybe BC Junior Hockey League. Competitive, two-way defenseman that moves the puck, that competes. Our guys talked about how he competes on pucks and how he moves the puck. Skating is pretty good."He still needs to fill out…his legs and frame are long. Needs to put on about 10, 15 pounds for sure. We're excited to get him."

"To be honest I didn't really have any expectations," said McFaul. "I got a phone call from my agent and that was probably the best phone call I've ever got."

Dustyn's selection to the NHL shows that Midget hockey is a quality development path.  Everyone develops at their own pace and the path requires hard work and determination.  There are no guarantees coming out of Minor Midget, no matter who you are.  Dustyn more than proved that having not even played in the OHL and still is drafted to the NHL.

Congratulations to you Dustyn and best of luck as your career develops!
