Making the OHL...as a Ref!
Niagara North alum Matt Ceko ('97) has made the OHL, but in a different way...as a linesman! Matt played for NN for 5 years and at age of 15 he began
officiating minor hockey in St. Catharines and it immediately became a true
passion for him. After only 3
seasons of reffing minor hockey he was hired into the OHA, officiating Junior
C, B, Senior and University hockey. In 2016 he was presented with the Most
Promising Linesman award at The Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. He has also
attended the NHL exposure combine in 2015 and will attend this August for a
second time. Matt is looking forward to his first season in the OHL, and
continuing to develop towards the highest level attainable. Congratulations Matt and best of luck this year!!
